Answer: The Fire District is not aware of any underground tanks on the site and do not believe that any exist.

Question: Have you verified if the selection process will still include the evaluation of the design fee?

Answer: We posted Addendum #1 on our website this morning which removes the original request for a fee proposal in its entirety.

Question: Under Section 4 – Proposal Final Evaluation Score 35 points. Can you provide additional elaborations as to how the points will be weighted (i.e. Experience)?

Answer: Addendum #1 addresses Section 4 and reduces the point value to 25 points. We have also listed 5 things that will be used to evaluate the proposal documents.

Question: It is not readily apparent to me if KCFD is interested in actually obtaining LEED Certification or just designing to LEED standards and completing a score sheet tabulation. Can you clarify this for me? If pursing actual certification, should we include the LEED registration and certification fees in our proposal?

Answer:  The submitted question was not received prior to the deadline for questions which was listed in the Schedule of Events on page 3 of the RFP as 2:00 PM on Friday December 16, 2011. Hence, we are not able to answer the question.

Question:
Since the time between the time we learned about this nice project and the submittal date is only about two weeks. And these two weeks include the weekend and a major holidays such as Christmas, I am asking if you could please extend the submittal day to preferably two more weeks to be on Friday January 13.

This is to:

  1. Give everyone a fair chance to prepare a decent response.
  2. Avoid giving unfair advantages to the two companies that already is familiar and worked on the projects before this RFP was announced.
  3. Give the county the opportunity to get better proposals and hopefully better service at lower design fee.

Answer:  Due to the short timeframe to complete the construction of the Fire Station (December 12, 2012), we have chosen not to extend the deadline for submittal of proposals.
